Uma brings over 35 years of experience in marketing communications, starting her career in advertising in the mid-80s after a brief stint as a hotelier following her graduation from Ceylon Hotel School.
She holds an MBA from Mahatma Gandhi University and specialized media strategy training from the Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad.
Uma’s illustrious career spans from Ogilvy to GroupM at WPP group, and as CEO at Splendor Advertising, handling numerous local and international brands and earning accolades. She has held board positions as an Independent Director at Lanka Hospital PLC, Lanka Hospital Diagnostic Ltd., and Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. Uma’s extensive industry experience and innovative approach to brand communication have driven significant change, elevating advertising standards.
Her proactive philosophy and positive attitude have consistently propelled underdog brands to prominence leveraging data-driven insights to craft compelling narratives that resonate with audiences and drive results.
