About Us

We leverage research in economics, politics, media, and law to provide strategic analysis and advice to governments, and the private sector in Sri Lanka and beyond

We are Verité Research

Verité Research is an independent think-and-do tank based in Sri Lanka, dedicated to providing strategic analysis to drive transformative change. Through rigorous research, advocacy, and education, we tackle complex challenges with practical, actionable insights.

Our interdisciplinary approach spans various areas of economic research—including socio-economics, international economics, and macroeconomics—alongside our Verité Sectoral Engagement Team (VSET), which focuses on sector-specific research and engagement with public institutions. Our specialized teams in legal research, governance and anti-corruption, media and politics, and parliamentary monitoring work together to provide a holistic, integrated approach.

Our mission is to foster an informed and engaged society, where evidence-based solutions support sustainable development and equitable opportunities for all.

Our story

Verité Research was founded in 2010 by Dr. Nishan de Mel as a think tank uniquely positioned to navigate Sri Lanka’s complex socio-political landscape. Initially focused on addressing urgent political challenges, we have steadily broadened our scope in response to emerging opportunities and evolving needs.

Today, Verité has grown into a dynamic, interdisciplinary research organisation with deep expertise in economics, law, media, and politics. Our independent, high-quality analysis and guidance serve governments, the private sector, and civil society, and our reputation has attracted a global network of associates and fellows whose specialised expertise enhances our work with diverse, international perspectives.

As we continue to evolve, Verité remains committed to promoting informed decision-making and driving transformative change through rigorous, comprehensive research that addresses challenges both locally and globally.

Success and Impact

What sets Verité Research apart is our distinct value proposition, which combines the intellectual rigor of academia, the professionalism of business, and the unwavering dedication of civil society. We are committed to promoting the greater good and channeling our efforts towards creating a more informed world. We prioritize the learning and development of our staff, fostering a culture of continuous growth and innovation.

At Verité Research, our vision is to foster an informed world where constructive dialogue and reasoned decision-making thrive. We strive to achieve this through transformative research and strategic analysis. Guided by our mission, we actively contribute to critical discourse by providing relevant, credible information, analysis, and practical solutions that shape public opinion and influence decision-makers.
