Verité Research monitored proactive disclosure of information to the public, under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Under the Act, public authorities must publish and disclose certain categories of information. This can range from institutional and operational information to budget and finance related details.
Verité monitored and ranked disclosure of information on the websites of 55 public authorities in Sri Lanka.The findings of the study showed overall poor progress of compliance. Only 3 public authorities scored ‘moderately satisfactory’, while a majority scored ‘moderately unsatisfactory’ (89%). No authority scored ‘satisfactory’ or ‘highly satisfactory’.
