This insight explains and navigates five sources of complications in calculating the increase in debt and the sources of debt increment in Sri Lanka over the years.Furthermore, the analysis finds that the main driver of the increase in Sri Lanka’s debt from 2015 to 2019 has been the accumulated interest that needs to be paid on past debt.
