Ashani Basnayake is an environment and climate change expert specialising in Strategy and Program Design. She previously served as a Senior Policy Officer for international adaptation strategies in the Australian Government’s Department of Environment and Energy. 

She has worked as an environmental consultant for Solidaridad Network and serves as a member on the board of trustees of the Federation of Environmental Organizations (FEO) Sri Lanka. 

She graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Science in Social Science and Economics and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management. She also holds a Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Sydney.
