Rochel Canagasabey
Programme Lead
Rochel Canagasabey is a Programme Lead at Verité Media, a division of Verité Research.
He has over five years of experience in leading and conducting research in various areas, including media polarisation, unethical reporting practices, media ownership, and Sri Lanka’s socio-political landscape.
Since 2019, Rochel has led The Divide, Sri Lanka’s only platform that regularly highlights instances of polarisation across languages in Sinhala and Tamil language media.
Beyond his work at Verité Media, he has conducted research on Sri Lanka’s parliament, history, and politics. He holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations, with a minor in History, from the American University in Bulgaria, and an MA in Globalisation: Politics, Conflict, and Human Rights from the University of Brighton.
Verité Research, as the name implies, is an independent think tank with research at its core. We carry out this research along four areas –economics, politics, media, and law. Leveraging this research, we provide strategic analysis and advice to governments, organisations, and the private sector in Sri Lanka and beyond.
