Prior to his retirement, Sunil Hettiarachchi served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Vocational Training, Ministry of Education and of the Ministry of Highways and Petroleum Resource Development. He has also served as the Director General for Investment & Tourism at the Ministry of Economic Development, the Additional Secretary to the President in 2016, and the Director General of the Department of Pensions. Since he retired from Public Service, he has worked as a consultant for multiple public and private sector organisations in various areas. Mr Hettiarachchi holds a Master’s degree in Public Management (MSc) from the Post Graduate Institute of Management (PIM), a Post Graduate Diploma in Devolution and Local Government Studies from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree from the same University.
