Verité Research monitored proactive disclosure of information to the public, under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Under the Act, public authorities must publish and disclose certain categories of information. This can range from institutional and operational information to budget and finance related details.

Verité was engaged in research and advocacy on implementing this law in Sri Lanka, as well as in changing broad provisions within the RTI Bill, prior to the passing of the Act. Since then, Verité has focused on two aspects of RTI – a) Obtaining information by filing requests from public authorities; and b) Obtaining information through proactive disclosure of information by public authorities. The implementation of RTI is an ongoing process in Sri Lanka. Verité Research continues to be involved in research and advocacy efforts to push for better implementation.
